Walter Leslie Wilmshurst (22 June 1867 – 10 July 1939) was a British author and Masonic scholar. He is best known for his book "The Meaning of Masonry", which was first published in 1918 and has since been republished several times. In this book, Wilmshurst argues that the ritual and symbolism of Freemasonry are based on spiritual and philosophical teachings that have their roots in the ancient wisdom of Egypt and Greece. He contends that the purpose of Freemasonry is to assist its members in developing their minds and spirits in order to become more virtuous, enlightened individuals.

Wilmshurst also wrote several other books on Masonic philosophy and history, including "The Masonic Initiation" and "The Keystone of the Arch". He was a member of several Masonic organizations and served as a Grand Lodge lecturer and ritualist.
